The Tar Heels did force two fumbles in the second half but could only muster field goals out of both possessions. Wake Forest 25 NC STATE 23 NC State outgained the Deacons 334-266 but its comeback bid fell short with an interception at the Wake Forest 18-yard line with 45 seconds remaining.
