Lynn Swann For Governor
Lynn Swann, who played football for the Pittsburgh Steelers has decided to run for governor of Pennsylvania in the states elections later this year. This will be the first race for political office for the former football star. His celebrity has been helping a little on the road to the governor’s seat. But he still has a long way to go. Swann has been relying on his celebrity and catchy slogans to get noticed by potential voters. But this is not all he will have to do. Many football players have gone on to hold office in the Senate and Congress. Going into politics is a natural transition when a person is already well known. Swann, who was known for catching the ball in miraculous ways, is counting on his celebrity to help him win the election. He has been touring different counties in Pennsylvania trying to convince voters that he is the better candidate than Ed Rendell who was Philadelphia’s mayor before becoming governor of the state. Winning this race will be very difficult for Swann, even though he has his supporters. Playing football can teach a person many things including leadership, pride, integrity, and other qualities that can be effective when going into politics. But without a plan that is simple to understand and that promises results, a person will have a hard time selling themselves as a leader. Lynn Swann is finding this out each day as he continues to push his name and his experience into the spotlight.
